How do I setup my softphone using Xten?

What do I need to be able to use a softphone:
• A Softphone installed on your PC
• High speed internet access, such as DSL or Cable
• An existing ViaTalk account

If you do not have a softphone, you can download one here at Xten.com. We choose Xten because of it's simplicity and quality. You do not have to use Xten and this is just an example of how to go about setting up a softphone on your computer.

Once you have completed the download and the install you will see this:

Also this menu image will appear:

You then need to go ahead and change a few key fields.

You will be provided with all of this information once you request softphone information from us.
What you need to change is:
• Make sure at the top it is switched to enabled: Yes
• Change your display name to your name
• Username: This is your ViaTalk phone number including the 1 and the area code
• Authorization User: This is also your ViaTalk phone number including the 1 and the area code
• Password: This is your ViaTalk provided password
• Domain/Realm: This is your ViaTalk provided proxy
• Sip/Proxy: ViaTalk provided proxy
• Out Bound Proxy: ViaTalk provided proxy
• Leave all of the other fields the same

Then at the bottom go to Update settings, and then confirm update settings.

Once you have completed that you will want to go back to the X-Lite Phone screen and click on g711a, GSX, ilBC, SPX at the bottom and make sure that they are gray, not black. The only one that you want highlighted, black, is G711u. Then close the program and reopen it. Your softphone should be ready for use.

How do I setup my softphone using X-Lite 3

<p style="font-size: 14pt;"> </p> <p>What do I need to be able to use Viatalk with X-Lite:</p>

  • X-Lite needs to be installed on your computer. Download it from www.counterpath.com
  • High speed internet access, such as DSL or Cable
  • An existing ViaTalk account
  • Your softphone credentials from the 'Softphone Config' icon from your Viatalk Control Panel
<p>When you open X-Lite for the first time, you will see the 'SIP Accounts' page.
</p> <p>Click the 'Add' button. In this window, insert your softphone credentials as they are below. Make sure that all of the settings are as listed or you will not be able to make calls properly.
</p> <p>Click the OK button. You should see the 'SIP Accounts' window again, this time with your Viatalk account listed. Make sure it is Enabled, then close this window.
</p> <p>Now, you should see the softphone attempt to register with us. If everything works properly, you should see "Ready. Your username is: [your Viatalk number]".
</p> <p>Before you begin using the softphone, you should also make some small changes to its configuration to ensure you are able to pass DTMF (keytones) properly. To do this, dial ***7469 and hit Send. This will open an advanced options menu.
</p> <p>In the search box, type "2833" then click 'Apply Filter'. Look for rtp:2833:enabled, and set it to 0.
</p> <p>Then, in the search box, type DTMF and click 'Apply Filter'. Look for dtmf:force_send_in_band, and set it to 0.
</p> <p>Once you have done this, close this window. You are now ready to make and receive calls using X-Ten and Viatalk.</p>
